Hey Justin! You should teach a Time Studio class in the sculpture department!!!
yes yes yes! jaclyn and i were just talking about this. we are frustrated that there is little to no “extended media” in the sculpture & extended media dept. and we were reminiscing about how much we enjoyed that class. something must be done!!
ah please! there needs to be something not based on making objects
I suggested to Amy that I’d like to do a class on” Post-Studio and Social Sculpture” (Look up the terms if unfamiliar). Unfortunately there are budget constraints. I would like to make stuff with you folks and your friends though. An informal school within the school could be a possibility…if you can find the time and energy.
What does it take to set up an independent study? Has there ever been a small group independent study? I am not feeling inspired by the work I am doing in the sculpture department nor do I feel my needs are being met. What can we do??
You can politely let the department know your feelings.I think facilitating more focus on “extended media” is a legitimate request. I’ve done an independent study before…but for various reasons I think a non-credit activity /group / club/pseudo political party /collective might be better than that route. Catch me next time you see me and we’ll talk.
i also know alexandra b. is interested also; what is the best way to politely let them know? i really think that is wrong for the dept to be lacking such a class
I agree 100 percent, and want to help the extended media become better represented!
I think if we were to all write personal (and courteous) letters to Amy Hauft, once the demand is known, perhaps we could have a meeting with her collectively?
